Because of the Islands' exotic beauty and charm, the Spanish conquered the Islands and called it Filipinas. For 300 years they rule the Islands. After the First World War the Americans colonized the Philippines for 50 years. They give its independence only to be invaded by the Japanese in the Second World War. The Philippines gain its first independence on the 12th of July 1898, the time when the courageous sons of the Motherland offer their life for the future generation. | ||||||||||||||||
